Pool complex

The Dome
The resort boasts a 4,500 m² aquatic complex known as “The Dome,” which opened in 2019. Visiting during the October holidays, we primarily used this indoor facility. whilst this does have a small outdoor section, it’s mostly indoors. It’s amazing. The dome is beautifully designed, featuring detailed “wild” animal sculptures and lush greenery, creating an immersive environment. We love it. While it doesn’t have an overwhelming number of slides, it’s undoubtedly one of the most aesthetically pleasing and warmest pools we’ve visited. Even the outdoor section felt comfortably warm on a chilly October day.

The dome consists of:
- A children’s splash pool with a couple of small slides.
- Fast “racer slides” that land in a plunge pool, another set of slides that don’t land in a pool (better for younger children) and there’s also a fast solo slide into a pool.
- Numerous lazy river areas and unique spaces are scattered throughout, including a rope swing that looks amazing. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get my two-year-old to try it, and there was often a long queue.
- An impressive wave pool operates for 15 minutes every hour (starting at the half-hour mark). The waves are great fun, and my two-year-old eagerly ran to the wave pool each time we heard the klaxon signaling their start.
- The changing rooms are ample, with numerous lockers and showers. It’s advisable to bring a euro for the paid lockers, as the code system can be confusing.
- There were several lifeguards on duty, and there’s an area to speak to staff at the entrance, where you can also borrow rubber rings.

Other pools
Other pools are available but are primarily open during the summer. These include one at the hotel, which is accessible to all guests but is quite a distance from the campsite.

There are two unheated, calmer pools in front of the clubhouse, mainly used for swimming.

Additionally, there’s the aqua park in the main area of the campsite, featuring slides and splash areas, ideal for warm weather when you prefer not to be indoors.

Swimwear rule
The swimwear rule doesn’t seem to be strictly enforced at this campsite. Many guests wore full-length board shorts. However, as it’s French law, this could be enforced at a later date.

Water activities (Lakes, Pedalos and fishing)
The campsite has several lakes and a river. These are popular spots for fishing. However, for us, the most exciting things on the water include the wakeboard area and the pedalos.

Wakeboarding is accessible from one of the lakes via a cable system. It costs 20 euros and there are even some ramps to try if you’re seeking a challenge. If however, you’re not ready for that – you can also try the pull along water ring.
There’s also another lake which has pedalos in for rent at €6 per half hour.

There are also three fishing ponds. We saw a child catch a giant fish at one of these ponds and have seen many fishermen there. As it’s private land, no special licenses are required, and you can try to catch carp, tench, pike, and roach.

Campsite Facilities
This campsite isn’t just big in popularity—it’s big on facilities too!

Receptions, Customer Services and Check in
We booked our stay just two days before arriving through Eurocamp, and for 4 nights, we paid a mere €159, which was an absolute bargain. Booking via Airbnb or a local gîte in Brittany would have cost us that much per night, and we wouldn’t have had access to even a fraction of the amazing facilities at Les Ormes.
Since we booked through Eurocamp, we checked in at their designated desk, which is still within the main camping reception building. The long driveway leading up to reception can be a little confusing, as it passes by the hotel and other facilities before arriving at the camping area. Make sure to follow the signs to the camping reception for a smooth check-in process.

We arrived at 1:00 pm, a few hours before the official check-in time of 4:00 pm, and were greeted warmly at the Eurocamp desk. While we couldn’t access our accommodation yet, we were given our wristbands and allowed to use the campsite facilities while we waited. No problem, we had snacks at hand and there was also a baby changing table in the reception toilets, which was really handy.
Next to the reception desk is also the booking area for activities. As we didn’t do any paid activities, we didn’t really use this area – although Lottie did sit on the toy horse there for a photo op.
Back to the staff.
Eurocamp Reception & Staff
The Eurocamp team were polite, professional, and helpful throughout our stay. However, I did notice a shift compared to years past. Growing up, I remember Eurocamp staff being incredibly engaging, even joining families for drinks in the evening and sharing travel tips. Now, while still friendly and efficient, I found there was less personal connection, possibly due to changes in staff training or a language barrier.

Once we collected our keys, we were handed a map of the resort, some basic information, and directed to the Les Ormes app, which contains all details about the site, facilities, and activity schedules.
For checkout, the process was simple:
- Leave the mobile home as you found it
- Clean everything
- Drop the keys on the table or at reception

Play Areas & Sports Fields

While Les Ormes has huge open green spaces for kids to run around in, it also has structured play areas with equipment for all ages.
Play park

This main play area caters to both toddlers and older children. One side of the path is designed for toddlers, while the other side features larger climbing structures and slides for bigger kids. While our 2-year-old enjoyed the toddler zone, I did feel the equipment was slightly outdated compared to other campsites we’ve visited.

Bouncy Castle
Located just outside the pool dome, this pirate-themed bouncy castle was a huge hit. However, the sign states that it’s for children over 8 years old, which felt a little odd since it wasn’t that big. We still used it but stepped off when older kids arrived.

Horse Riding
The Les Ormes Equestrian Center offers pony rides for children aged 3 and up, as well as longer trail rides for older kids and adults. You can ride through the stunning countryside, with a variety of options:
- Pony Rides: €12 per round
- Beginner Horse Rides & Lessons: Available for children and adults

Mini golf

Fancy something a little more fun, the mini golf course is designed with children and family fun in mind. There are 18 holes behind creative obstacles and equipment can be hired from the leisure point next to reception.
Foot Golf

This unique activity combines football with golf. Instead of clubs and balls, players kick a football into oversized holes on a modified golf course. It’s a fun, active way to spend time as a family and a hit with teens.
Multi Sports

The multi-sports court is located near the central play area and caters to a variety of games like football, basketball, and volleyball. It’s a lively hub in the evenings, with kids and teens making friends and organising matches.
Tree Top Climbing

This adventure course is a must-try for families with older children (minimum age: 4). It includes a series of zip lines, rope bridges, and platforms set high in the trees. Safety gear is provided, and staff are on hand to guide participants. It costs 12 euros to access.
Zip Line
Separate from the tree top climbing course, the zip line runs above one of the lakes, offering a thrilling ride with incredible views. It’s suitable for 3 years+.
Climbing Wall

Located near the tree top climbing area, this climbing wall is for anyone aged 7+ and needs to be booked at the leisure point.it costs 12 euros for one hour of climbing.
Archery

Archery lessons and practice sessions are available for kids and adults. You need to be at least 7 years old and it’ll cost 12 euros for 45 minutes.
Boules
A classic French pastime, the boules area is a relaxing spot for families to try their hand at this traditional game. Equipment is available at the activity center.
Tennis
There are 2 tennis courts available for booking at the leisure point. You can hire rackets and balls. It will cost you 6 euros an hour to hire the tennis courts.

Bars, Restaurants and Takeaway

We loved the food and drink options available at Les Ormes
Bar

The bar area has a cosy pub-style atmosphere, with a fireplace and two terraces overlooking the outdoor pool and waterski lake.

Restaurant – Le Club
The main restaurant serves traditional French cuisine in a beautiful stone building.

Takeaway/Snack Bar

Domaine des Ormes has a pizzeria and a snack bar, offering quick and convenient meals. They serve freshly made pizzas, pastas, burgers, fries, hot dogs, etc for dine-in or takeaway. It can get quite busy, especially in peak season, so ordering early is recommended.
Ice cream and waffle bar

Les Ormes also has a separate ice cream and waffle kiosk near the bar. They sold a wide range of flavours and of course we made sure to enjoy one while watching wake boards on the lake.
Campsite Shop

The onsite shop stocks a variety of essentials, including fresh bread, pastries, dairy products, local delicacies, and everyday groceries. However, the selection of fresh produce and refrigerated items is somewhat limited, so for a larger shop, it’s best to visit a nearby supermarket.
The closest large supermarket is in Dol-de-Bretagne, about a 10-minute drive away.
WIFI
The campsite has free wifi in the central areas – however our phone network worked perfectly and we didn’t use it.
Bike Hire

A hut opposite the receptions offers bike rentals for exploring the large resort and nearby countryside. There are lots of options available and it definitely seemed the preferred transportation method around the campsite.

Pets
Les Ormes is pet-friendly, allowing dogs in certain accommodations and camping emplacements. There will be a fee for bringing your pet.
Pet Policy
Dogs must be kept on a lead
No access to pools or restaurant areas
Must be vaccinated (proof required at check-in)
Shower blocks & Laundry

The communal shower and toilet blocks are heated, clean and well-maintained, but a little dated. The laundry area is in a separate building with plenty of washing machines and dryers.
Accessibility
Les Ormes resort have seemingly done lots to ensure their campsite is wheelchair accessible. There are wheelchair accessible mobile homes however there are a few small hills on the campsite. The pools are also accessible for wheelchair users.
Nature walks

Les Ormes is set within 200 hectares of countryside, making it perfect for nature lovers. There are marked walking trails through forests, lakes, and open fields, where you can spot wildlife, red squirrels, and a variety of birds.

FAQ’s

Are The Mobiles Close Together?
No. We had lots of space between ours and the next mobile homes. Allowing us to have a large grassy garden area. Many of the mobile homes we saw had large spaces.

Is The Campsite Flat?
Fairly. There are slight hills around the campsite but nothing extreme.

Are There Mosquitos?
No, We did not notice any mosquitos. The campsite is very far north in France so it’s unlikely they would be a major problem here.
Is It Easy To Get A Sunbed Around The Pool?
Yes, We had no problem getting one, however this was low season. It may be different if visiting in July or August.

Do Men Have To Wear Swim Trunks?
No. There were no swimwear requirements during our stay, however the rules can change at any time.
Are There BBQs On Site?
The campsite rents BBQs for those who want to use them.
What’s The Weather Like In Spring/Summer?
North Brittany is very similar to the south of the UK. Think of it as comparable with Cornwall or Devon for weather. It’s worth the effort, but don’t expect daily sunshine. We stayed in October and whilst the weather was mild, the campsite was muddy. I advise bringing wellies.

Can You Park On Your Pitch/Emplacement?
Yes. We had no problems with parking on our pitch. However, accommodations like the tree houses did require parking in a car park away from the pitch.
Can You Take Pets On The Campsite?
Pets are allowed on the Domain and in most accommodations, except for unusual accommodations and some rental accommodation.
Where’s The Nearest Supermarket?
The nearest supermarket is in Dol de Bretagne.
Is It Loud In The Evenings?

No. Our accommodation was set away from the main facilities, we didn’t hear any entertainment except for the fireworks one night.
What Can We Do If It Rains?
The indoor swimming dome is perfect for rainy cold days.
Can I Use My Currency Card On SIte?
Yes. Transfer cards are perfect for use on this campsite. There’s even an ATM available on-site.
