Pool complex

We loved the pool area at La Chapelle. The aquatic area felt more like a luxury holiday resort than a campsite. There were:
2 Large Waterslides: Perfect for older children and adventurous adults. Our favourite was the racer flume, which gave you a speed score at the end of it.

Kids Splash Park includes three small slides, a giant water bucket, and water features such as cannons and sprays. Our 1 and 4 year old absolutely loved this area.
Covered Pool: Great for cooler days, rainy days or when you want a break from the sun.

Lane Pool: Ideal for swimming laps.

And a Lagoon pool: This was unheated but absolutely beautiful, surrounded by cabanas and palm trees.

We often saw lifeguards in the pool area, and they were strict about the ages/heights allowed on the big slides. Despite this, we still had a fantastic time using the smaller slides and making the most of the heated pools in early May.

Swimwear rule
During our stay, everyone in the pool area was wearing tight-fitting swimwear, and signs dotted around the area stated that loose swim shorts were forbidden.

Beach & water activities

I can’t get over how beautiful the beach is here. The stunning Mediterranean is just 400m from the campsite. Whilst it’s not a golden sandy beach and actually more of a gravel beach, the sea has the most transparent waters we’ve ever seen. I don’t know whether this has something to do with the mountains and rocky surroundings, but it was stunning. To top it off, the scenery around was gorgeous, with mountain backdrops and (when it wasn’t raining) lovely blue skies. The water was quite cold, but as it was May, we didn’t overly expect it to be warm.
Campsite Facilities

There was lots to enjoy on La Chapelle.
Receptions, Customer Services and Check-in
We arrived late at the campsite, so we interacted very little with the reception staff. In fact, we were checked in by security, who gave us our keys and directed us to our mobile home. However, the staff we did meet were all friendly and welcoming and spoke amazing English.
Play Areas

We discovered two different play parks on La Chapelle.
Playpark

The main play park had lots of slides, climbing structures, and equipment. It was suitable for most ages, primarily those aged 4-12. As the campsite has no central area and is quite scattered, the park was in the middle of nowhere and felt isolated and lonely.

Other Play Park
The second park was toddler-focused, suitable for those aged 1-6. It had small slides and solo see-saws, so our 1-year-old was content. It was also fenced in to stop escapers and had a nice bench for parents to relax.

Table tennis
Table tennis tables were located near the park, although we didn’t see anyone using them during our stay.
Body weight gym
The body weight gym was similarly located near the table tennis and park and featured a variety of equipment.
Multi-sports area

There is a basic multi-sports area for football, basketball, and other games. This was located relatively centrally in the campsite but away from other facilities.
Gym

La Chapelle has a surprisingly good gym area. There is a good mix of resistance machines and cardio equipment.
Our Video Review Of La Chapelle on Youtube:
Animation and entertainment for kids and adults

The entertainment team was excellent. Although we didn’t use the kids’ club or attend any events at the bar (except for catching a little karaoke on our first night), the animation staff worked tirelessly to entertain customers. They even adapted to the rain by hosting a tombola on Instagram Live when the evening’s activities couldn’t be held outdoors.

The kids’ club schedule was packed with entertaining activities, and the daytime and evening schedule for adults featured things like quizzes, games, and an aqua gym.
Bars, Restaurants and Takeaway

Buddha Bar: The campsite’s main bar hosts evening entertainment like karaoke and live performances. While the music was loud in the bar area, our mobile home was far enough away that we couldn’t hear it at night.

Snack Bar: This multipurpose shop near the entrance sold everything from pizzas to morning croissants. Unfortunately, the BBQ pizza wasn’t to our taste.

Pool Bar: A small but convenient snack bar near the pool serving drinks, crepes, paninis, and more.
Campsite Shop

The snack bar was also a small shop. Located near the entrance, it stocked basic supplies and snacks. As the resort is located in the town centre, there is a small supermarket just a short walk away, with a much larger range of items. For a big Supermarket, you’d need to travel 1.5km to Lidl or 2.2km to the large Intermarche hypermarket.

Bike Hire
The campsite doesn’t provide bike hire, but a short walk away in Argeles sur Mer is a bike hire shop that has a massive range of different adult bikes, children’s bikes, seats, tandems, etc.

Pets
Pets are allowed on La Chapelle, but they must be vaccinated, pre-booked, and paid for. Only one pet is allowed per family booking. Pets are tolerated on two specific beaches: the Marenda beach and the beach between the port and Racou.
Wifi
The swimming pool and Buddha bar provide free Wi-Fi; however, having Wi-Fi in your mobile home will cost € 4 per day to € 20 per week for 2 devices.
Accessibility

The campsite is flat and has 2 PMR mobile homes for those with reduced mobility, and the pool has ramps.
Day Trips

Perpignan:
A historic city with a mix of French and Spanish influences.
Les Aigles de Valmy:
A raptor park offering bird shows and nature trails.
Collioure:

A picturesque coastal town known for its vibrant art scene and Catalan culture.
Argelès Adventure:
A treetop climbing park for all ages.
La Réserve Africaine de Sigean:
A safari park featuring African wildlife.
Available Accommodation

We stayed in a 2-bedroom Comfort XL mobile home with an outdoor lounge provided by Eurocamp. The outdoor lounge was the highlight of our accommodation—spacious, comfortable, and perfect for dining or relaxing, even in the rain. However, there are lots of other accommodation options available, including:

Classics and Classic XL’s – budget option
Comfort and Comfort XL – basic, but a tier above classics
Premiums and Ultimates – the higher tier mobile homes.

You can also read the descriptions when booking and choose one with a lounge decking like ours, I thoroughly recommend these. For more advice on accommodation types, read our Eurocamp accommodation reviews.
Should I Book Direct Through The Campsite Or Through An Operator? (How To Book)

La Chapelle is a Marvilla Parks resort, so there generally won’t be much difference in prices and variation with who you book with. Marvilla Parks is owned by the European Camping Group, which also owns Eurocamp, Homair, Roan and Canvas. Therefore, whoever you book with tends to yield similar results. However, the benefit of booking with Eurocamp is the English-speaking customer service office, should you require any help or amendments to your booking.
Do You Need A Car To Get Round?

Not at all! The campsite is centrally located, and everything in Argelès-sur-Mer is easily accessible on foot or by bike. The beach, shops, and restaurants are all within walking distance, and public transport is readily available for further trips.
How To Get To The Campsite
By Train: Take a train to Argelès-sur-Mer station via Perpignan, then a short bus or taxi ride to the campsite (3 km).
By Plane: Fly into Perpignan Airport and continue by taxi or train (25 km).
By Car: From the A9 motorway, take exit 42 (Perpignan Sud) and follow signs to Argelès-sur-Mer.
Should I Hire A Car?

It’s totally up to you. There are trains and buses available in Argeles-sur-Mer, and getting to La Chapelle from the airport is fairly easy. It depends on how much you want to explore off the beaten path.
Ferry Port
The Closest ferry port is Bilbao at 681km. This is still a fairly hefty drive and around a 24-hour ferry. Other options include French ferry ports, depending on how many hours you’d prefer to be at sea or on the road. Of course, budget is also a consideration, considering tolls, fuel and ferry costs. Dover Calais is generally renowned as one of the cheaper ferry crossings and shorter sailings. However, Brittany Ferries is usually the better-quality luxury option.

Cleanliness and Maintenance

We found La Chapelle well maintained and clean. Except for a few potholes in the road, there were no real signs of wear and tear, and our mobile home was lovely and clean, too.
Family Friendliness
Suggested Ages: The campsite is perfect for all ages. For older teenagers, the local town and beach are great options, and for young children, the pools and parks are brilliant. This site is one for the entire family.

Amenities and safety: Fenced parks, kids’ splash pools, lifeguards and family-friendly accommodations make it an excellent choice for safety and security with young children.
Pricing and Value for Money
We booked during a May bank holiday weekend. It cost us around £140 for three nights in a Comfort XL two-bedroom mobile home with an outdoor lounge and air conditioning. We loved the mobile home and feel we definitely got value for money.
